We beat a hot path out of here with breakfast bars to line up to watch our city's parade. It was great! Sports clubs, boy and girls clubs, politicians, companies, police/firemen and neighborhoods had floats or walked in the parade. The boys were ecstatic - candy and goody bags were tossed their way, and there was even a Shrek float, complete with steam hissing dragon and the donkey! There is also a pancake breakfast, but the one year we indulged in that breakfast we all suffered indigestion for hours - the pancakes spend more time in the air being flipped and tossed around, and they are therefore made to be tough enough to withstand the entertainment feature that they bring to the table, so to speak.
Did we get a single picture? NO! We had 5 minutes to get out the door and the cameras were forgotten.
Tonight? There are parties and many fireworks to choose from. Dh and oldest will participate. Youngest and I will have an early evening at home. He will have general anesthesia tomorrow to get dental work. I have to have him at Children's Hospital by 5:30 a.m. tomorrow - so no late night for us tonight.
Tomorrow? Will be a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG day for youngest and me. Please keep a good thought for our sweet little one. Thanks.

Good Thoughts and Well Wishes are coming to you and your litle guy.
And remember to eat something!
Oh, I forgot to pack snacks for me! Thanks - I've got the lovey, the blanket, bottled water and juice for him for after surgery, change of clothing for both of us in case he hurls; Carolyn reminded me about that.
Very comfortable shoes, and while your mind won't be onit, music of a book for you. It will give you something to do with your hands, which will feel three times too big and lonely while he's gone...
Big hugs and smiles to you and Youngest!
oh the general anesthesia -
I will hold you close today.
Thanks so much, everyone!
He did very well - fought his way out of anesthesia, but rallied very fast. He got versed before surgery and I had to carry a Very Big, Very Heavy sack o spuds with lolling head what seemed a mile to surgery, as I could not figure out the fasteners on the Maclaren Volo stroller (these are the boys' 'sag wagons'; we never have to use the restraints as the boys aren't likely to vault out of their strollers at their ages). Poor little guy needed a ton of fillings. *sigh* We finally got xrays and the good news is that his permanent teeth are coming in and look fine.
The only thing I can figure we are doing wrong is giving Gummy Vitamins every day. Those things are pure sugar! So, he is to have them BEFORE breakfast, then a good brushing and flossing after that.
And now oldest's nose is out of joint. I told him Ryan may lose teeth first. And Ryan got to pick a video first. And you know, it just stinks being the oldest boy sometimes!
Best wishes for the little one and also for you!! It will be over before you know it.
I'm so glad to hear everything went well. Now go... Rest and recuperate.
Did you get versed or maybe a bit of valium?
What bb said.
Keep us posted!
-J.
